Christian CHR KLFF (K-LIFE 89.3)/SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA has raised the full $60,000 for the replacement of its transmitter that was destroyed by a power surge on DECEMBER 9.
The station has been on the air at 25% power via a loaner transmitter since then. KLFF plans to order a digital-ready transmitter this week to prepare for HD conversion, and installation is expected to take place in FEBRUARY. With only $30,000 in its replacement fund, the station began seeing donations of all sizes come in from listeners, churches and even another radio station outside the area.
By CHRISTMAS EVE morning, $45,000 had been raised. Two other sizeable donations arrived by CHRISTMAS, and over the next week donations arrived online, over the phone, in the mail and in person to the studios. By DECEMBER 31, the full amount had been raised.
