WXRT Listeners Will Take Over The Airwaves Friday
January 3, 2007 at 4:54 PM (PT)
CBS RADIO AAA WXRT (93XRT)/CHICAGO will let its listeners program all the music this FRIDAY, JANUARY 5 from 9a-5p during "'XRT's REQUEST FOR HELP" to benefit HEARTLAND ALLIANCE's HOMELESS PREVENTION PROGRAM, which provides emergency funds followed by long-term financial planning to families in jeopardy of losing their homes. WXRT is soliciting song requests from anyone who gives a minimum $25 donation.
'XRT's on-air charity programming will be commercial-free and allow listeners to pick literally any song by any artist, from any genre and era. There are only two rules: no songs longer than 5 1/2 minutes (in order to accommodate as many requests as possible), and the lyrics must not be in violation of FCC guidelines.
