January 5, 2007 at 9:33 AM (PT)
ARBITRON announced today (1/5) that RADIO ONE has agreed to encode its radio stations in PHILADELPHIA and LOS ANGELES for the PORTABLE PEOPLE METER audience measurement services.
The PORTABLE PEOPLE METER system, an electronic audience measurement technology that has been in U.S. market trials since 2001, is scheduled to begin collecting audience estimates in PHILADELPHIA on JANUARY 11 and in LOS ANGELES in JANUARY 2008. An encoding agreement is separate and distinct from any agreement to subscribe to the PORTABLE PEOPLE METER ratings services.
Today, ARBITRON Sr. VP/Communications THOM MOCARSKY had "no comment" regarding CLEAR CHANNEL still holding out on encoding in PHILADELPHIA by JANUARY 11. CLEAR CHANNEL Chief Communications Officer LISA DOLLINGER similarly declined comment when contacted a few days back on the matter.
