The WELK MUSIC GROUP announced today that DURHAM, NC-based SUGAR HILL RECORDS headquarters' will move to WELK's existing offices in NASHVILLE. At the same time, GARY PACZOSA joins SUGAR HILL as VP/A&R; several other SUGAR HILL staffers will transition from DURHAM as well. SUGAR HILL's roster, which includes NICKEL CREEK and DOLLY PARTON, remains unchanged.
WELK Pres. KEVIN WELK said, "With strong artist ties to NASHVILLE, as well as GARY's decision to join SUGAR HILL, we feel the timing is right for us to expand our presence in NASHVILLE. This move enables us to further our mission statement of being the premier roots label."
WELK Sr. VP STEVE BUCKINGHAM said, "I have known and worked with GARY PACZOSA for 17 years with artists such as DOLLY PARTON, LINDA RONSTADT, MINDY SMITH and others. GARY has the respect of artists, musicians, producers and other engineers. He is one of the most talented and creative people I have been fortunate to know in this business. I truly feel that he will be a great asset to SUGAR HILL, VANGUARD and the WELK MUSIC GROUP."
PACZOSA commented, "The combination of my love of roots music and my deep respect for the artists on this roster made this an easy decision for me. To be working with artists of this caliber, combined with working for a record label that always helped me to make a better record, any way they could, is really exciting."
