WOR-A Towers Demolished
January 11, 2007 at 8:10 AM (PT)
Three giant radio towers that have been a fixture alongside the NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE have come down today (1/11). The 700-foot-tall towers are owned by WOR-A/NEW YORK and have been a landmark on the turnpike for more than 40 years. The station says the towers came down after one of the wires that anchors the structure was loosened around 11a.
The station's signal is broadcast from a new set of towers and transmitter a half-mile north in RUTHERFORD, NJ.
