The five-year run of WWHV (HOT 102.1)/VIRGINIA BEACH as a Hip Hop and R&B station will come to an end JANUARY 29, new owners RED ZEBRA BROADCASTING announced. The station’s personalities will remain on the air to salute their audience through their final "Farewell Party" on the 28th.
HOT 102.1 PD PARISH BROWN said, "Above all things considered, we at HOT 102.1 would like to acknowledge and thank our listeners for their loyalty, love and support over the past five years. Thank you for all the memories, your kindness, and most of all thanks for making HOT 102.1 a formidable part of HAMPTON ROADS radio history. We will spend until JANUARY 29 doing events and sharing these feelings on the station. We all appreciate the opportunity RED ZEBRA is giving us to do that."
RED ZEBRA Chief Programming & Marketing Officer JEFF WYATT added, "It will be unusual, as most often listeners just wake up one morning and their station is gone. These guys have been through a great deal building this audience and their standing in the community is tremendous. We believe the personalities should get the chance to say goodbye and wish their loyal fans well from behind the mic."
What the station will become JANUARY 29 has yet to be announced.
