Minor league baseball's SCRANTON-WILKES BARRE YANKEES ink a five-year deal with BOLD GOLD MEDIA GROUP's Sports THE GAME SPORTSNETWORK (WICK-A/SCRANTON, WYCK-A/WILKES-BARRE, WPSN-A/HONESDALE, WFBS-A/BERWICK).
All 144 regular-season games, playoffs, and the TRIPLE A ALL-STAR GAME will air on the stations. The deal also includes 60-second YANKEES reports to air on BOLD GOLD's four FM stations in the market. KENT WESTLING, who has handled the team's play-by-play for the last 18 years (as the RED BARONS), will be back for another season in the radio booth.
The NEW YORK YANKEES are taking over for the PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES as parent club of the SCRANTON-WILKES BARRE INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE franchise, as the PHILLIES move their affiliation to OTTAWA in a temporary move while a new stadium is constructed to allow the OTTAWA LYNX to move to ALLENTOWN, PA.
