MACQUARIE RADIO Talk 2GB/SYDNEY has been found to have breached the commercial radio code of practice by the AUSTRALIAN COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA AUTHORITY over a DECEMBER 15, 2005 show containing criticism of Lebanese people after the CRONULLA riots. Host BRIAN WILSHIRE said on his show that many Lebanese people are inbred and have "very low IQ" and suggested that they be caged.
ACMA's response notes that MACQUARIE issued an on-air apology and instituted staff training immediately following the comments but that ACMA will continue to monitor the company.
