CHRIS BRODIE has been appointed to the newly created VP/Affiliate Relations for BROADCAST ARCHITECTURE's SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK, which launched nationally last month. A 30-year industry veteran, BRODIE was an integral part of the launch of CBS RADIO Smooth Jazz KTWV (THE WAVE)/LOS ANGELES in 1987, became its PD in 1989 and exited in 2003 to launch CHRISTINE BRODIE MEDIA MANAGEMENT.
"With our new SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK now on the air in 19 markets across the U.S., now is the moment where we shift gears and complete our team with the addition of CHRIS," BA Pres. ALLEN KEPLER said. "Her experience with smooth jazz cannot be fully credited here. CHRIS is truly one of the format’s founders, innovators and brings a level of professionalism to our team that will greatly enhance our ability to serve our clients. I could not be more thrilled to have CHRIS join our elite team. The A team is certainly now on the field!"
About her return to Smooth Jazz radio, BRODIE states, "When I made the decision to leave broadcasting several years ago, it was for two reasons: to spend more time with my growing daughter and to pursue work in the non-profit arena. My goals were met. My daughter LEAH is a gem, and I have worked with some amazing charitable organizations. But when ALLEN and I talked about the possibilities of the SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK, I felt as if I was 'coming home.' Having sat in a program director’s chair for so many years, I'm both astounded and thrilled that BA's network has not just a superlative creative and talent base, but also a remarkable degree of flexibility on how to best accommodate the needs of our affiliates. BA's team is the best in the business -- it feels like a dream job, and I'm looking forward to working closely with both old and new friends.
"The only trepidation I had in accepting this position is that there’s an IN 'N OUT BURGER close to the office. I’ll try to have some self control in that regard, and I’m looking forward to working with you on your challenges as well."
