Cincinnati Engineer Don Smith Dies At 88

Longtime CINCINNATI broadcast engineer DON SMITH died JANUARY 26 of acute leukemia at 88, according to the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER.
SMITH started his career at WLW-A, later helping put sister WLWT-TV (then experimental W8XCT) on the air in 1947. He retired from WLWT in 1986 but then became Chief Engineer at NORTHERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY noncommercial WNKU. He also ran the Jumbotron at RIVERFRONT STADIUM from 1986 through 2002.
