SHOCKER! CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WXXL (XL1067)/ORLANDO morning duo DOC & JOHNNY is now just JOHNNY with the sudden resignation of 17-year station veteran DOC last FRIDAY (3/2).
CLEAR CHANNEL RVPP and CC/ORLANDO Dir./Programming CHRIS KAMPMEIER shared the staff memo with ALL ACCESS: "DOC has submitted a letter of resignation. As he said to me over the weekend after being on vacation for the week ... 'I’ve done a lot of thinking about my job and my future, and it's time for a break. Time to look at what's next.'
"The DOC & JOHNNY morning show has ruled mornings in this town for an amazing 17 years. No matter the subject, DOC always found a way to be right in the thick of things. Ratings, revenue, service to the community and, most of all, laughs, DOC did it all with amazing continuity and made it look easy. Mentor and friend to many, DOC was always genuine in his convictions and true to his word. Always a total pro.
"There have been many changes in the DOC & JOHNNY Show cast over the years. But JOHNNY has been there from the beginning and, along with GRACE, ALEX, BRIAN and DANNY, JOHNNY will keep the party going!"
