ARISTA/NASHVILLE has released Country star PHIL VASSAR from his contract, and he has signed a new deal with UNIVERSAL RECORDS SOUTH/NASHVILLE. VASSAR has been with ARISTA since the beginning of his career, which kicked off in 1999 with the release of "Carlene."
He said, "ARISTA's been my record label from the beginning, and it's been an amazing seven years -- from 'Carlene' on to last year's ‘Greatest Hits’ and going #1 with 'Last Day of My Life.' I think that as artists change and grow musically, it's important to shake things up on the business side too. And a career mile marker like the ‘Hits’ disc just makes the timing feel right to make a fresh start."
VASSAR and UNIVERSAL RECORDS SOUTH Pres. MARK WRIGHT are teaming up for his debut project on the label, and it is expected to be ready later this year.
