CRTC Plans Hearings On New Merger Guidelines
March 13, 2007 at 5:30 PM (PT)
The CRTC will be holding public hearings in the FALL aimed at issuing new guidelines for Canadian media mergers before the end of the year.
The commission says that it is looking to maintain "a diversity of voices" despite continuing merger action; any new rules will not affect the previously announced purchases of CHUM LTD. by CTVGLOBEMEDIA and STANDARD by ASTRAL. Hearings will be held between SEPTEMBER and DECEMBER on the issue.
