ALL ACCESS has confirmed that 28-year KANSAS CITY radio vet HERNDON HASTY retired last FRIDAY from his position as VP/Market Manager of the WILKS BROADCASTING/KANSAS CITY cluster, which includes Country KBEQ, Country KFKF, Top 40 KMXV and AC KCKC.
Insiders said he had told no one of his plans. HASTY did leave a letter to the staff, which read, "I have made the decision to leave Team K.C. and announced my resignation to JEFF (WILKS) on FRIDAY. I told him that I simply am not the right guy to lead his business in K.C. I leave you knowing I have had the privilege of being associated with the finest group of radio broadcasters in KANSAS CITY, now or ever. Mere words can never adequately express my deep sense of gratitude for all you have done for our business, our listeners, and our community. I learned many years ago that the strength of any organization is its people. It is you that deserve the credit for our success, it is you that have set the standards for this market. You are the envy of every broadcast business in town, and I am humbled that you chose us. Please accept my sincere wishes for continued success in the coming months and years and my undying appreciation for making us what we became... Team K.C."
