One of the longtime chief targets of MILLENIUM Talk WKXW & WXKW (NEW JERSEY 101.5)/TRENTON's "JERSEY GUYS" afternoon show is shooting back with a press conference announcing the formation of a "Coalition Against Bigotry and Hate" to try and convince the station' advertisers that hosts CRAIG CARTON and RAY ROSSI use ethnic slurs and "hate speech" on the show.
State Senator RAYMOND LESNIAK (D-UNION), who has been pilloried by CARTON and ROSSI in the past, says that his "coalition" isn't going to try to get CARTON and ROSSI fired or advertisers to pull spots from the station, but that he will send advertisers and investors transcripts of a FEBRUARY show on which CARTON asked a caller, "Half the Polacks joined the Nazi party to kill what? Jews." Earlier, the hosts made fun of LESNIAK for a picture of the powerful politician standing next to a Polish rock star, questioning his sexual orientation.
CARTON responded to LESNIAK's press conference by saying, "We are surprised and disappointed that at a time when we should be uniting communities, Senator LESNIAK and his Coalition Against Free Speech have decided to pick the eve of the holiest of holidays to further divide us as a people."
