What's CBS Sports WFAN-A/NEW YORK going to put in morning drive now that DON IMUS is gone?
The station will "at least temporarily" move afternoon stars MIKE FRANCESA and CHRIS "MAD DOG" RUSSO into mornings after TODAY's airing of the final morning of the station's annual radiothon (co-hosted by IMUS' wife DEIRDRE). FRANCESA and RUSSO told listeners on FRIDAY afternoon that they will do double duty in mornings and afternoons for the next two weeks.
MIKE & THE MAD DOG have been highly critical on the air of CBS' handling of the IMUS situation, especially in firing IMUS before the radiothon was complete.
Meanwhile, on the radiothon, DEIRDRE IMUS criticized the fans who sent hate mail to the RUTGERS women's basketball players blaming them for her husband's firing, telling the hate mailers "If you want to send hate mail, send it to my husband." DON IMUS met with the RUTGERS players and thrir families WEDNESDAY night at the NEW JERSEY Governor's mansion in a meeting that ended with no comment from IMUS; Governor JON CORZINE was scheduled to mediate the session but was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash on his way to the meeting.
DEIRDRE IMUS and CHARLES MCCORD hosted the morning's radiothon, which featured a crossover segment with OPIE AND ANTHONY, who have supported IMUS and who urged their listeners to donate to the radioton, which benefits the TOMORROW'S CHILDREN FUND, the HOLLANDER family's C.J. FOUNDATION FOR SIDS, and the IMUS RANCH.
