WFTV.COM asks "Is a local radio stunt going too far?" in an on-air report as CLEAR CHANNEL News/Talk WTKS (REAL RADIO 104.1)/ORLANDO morning show THE MONSTERS IN THE MORNING are offering a breast augmentation for women who can show how hard they can party for 30 hours, all while live on the Internet.
The report continues, "No one will say what the 'partying' might include, but it will all be broadcast live on the Internet. For a few hours on the radio, listeners of 'MONSTERS IN THE MORNING' heard women auditioning for a bizarre contest in search of a free breast job. Radio contests have gotten close scrutiny since a CALIFORNIA woman died competing to drink the most water without going to the bathroom. The rules: Spend 30 hours with radio personality TIFFANY in front of a camera broadcast live on the Internet. The station website only says "the girl that parties the hardest" wins.
"Don't you think some folks might hear it or see it and think it's a little sleazy?" questioned WFTV reporter ERIC RASMUSSEN.
"They can think what they want, but I have my friends and my husband and they were all very supportive," said contestant KATHLEEN BELVISO.
But BELVISO and at least some of the other contestants said they did not know the doctor offering the free implants is on probation with the Health Department.
"I didn't know that," BELVISO said.
"Does that change how you feel?" RASMUSSEN asked.
"Yeah," she said.
Dr. BARRY KAPLAN did not want to talk to WFTV on camera, but said the complaint against him was based on clerical mistakes with medical records and said he's worked with the radio station before. Meanwhile, the girls compete for the surgery next week.
