Homeless Man's Rant On O&A Sparks Net Reaction
May 10, 2007 at 6:31 PM (PT)
A bit on OPIE AND ANTHONY's XM SATELLITE RADIO show has been seized upon by a pair of Internet sites as the next IMUS-like "controversy."
The segment, which did not air on the syndicated terrestrial CBS RADIO version of the show, involved a ranting homeless man named "HOMELESS CHARLIE" talking about forcing sex on Secretary of State CONDOLEEZZA RICE, with ANTHONY saying he can "imagine the horror on CONDOLEEZZA RICE's face as you were just holding her down and f---ing her" and CHARLIE suggesting he'd punch her in the face. CHARLIE also cursed out the QUEEN in the segment, which has been posted as a clip of slightly more than a minute in length at BREITBART.TV. Another site, a blog at WIRED.COM called "EPICENTER," suggested that the clip may endanger the XM-SIRIUS merger, adding that "it seems like only a miracle will save these hosts that were fired before for going over the line," although there was no indication THURSDAY as to what the ultimate reaction would be to the clip.
The two postings were linked by THE DRUDGE REPORT THURSDAY afternoon, and postings at an O&A message board site under a user name generally known to be ANTHONY CUMIA's expressed the expectation that the story would become bigger by tomorrow and that a suspension is possible, although there was no indication of any suspension as of late THURSDAY.
The clip is available by clicking here (includes vulgar language and sexual content).
