City Of Hope Roasts Allen Grubman

Many industry heavyweights were in attendance MONDAY evening (5/21) as THE CITY OF HOPE hosted its secod annual Music And Entertainment Industry Group Roast at the MANDARIN ORIENTAL HOTEL in NEW YORK. The event is held to raise money for THE CITY OF HOPE, a research organization dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer and other life-threatening illness.
Entertainment industry lawyer extraordinaire ALLEN GRUBMAN was the man in the crosshairs, as both friends and clients (and as we were often reminded, mostly both friend and client) went to the dais to share stories and poke fun at GRUBMAN. With the lights of MANHATTAN as a background, host BRYANT GUMBEL kept things moving along. The roasters included BMG LABEL GROUP Chairman/CEO CLIVE DAVIS, CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP Chairman/CEO JASON FLOM, former VIACOM Pres./CEO TOM FRESTON, CBS Pres./CEO LESLIE MOONVES and JOHN MELLENCAMP, who brought a guitar with him and serenaded the audience with a tale of GRUBMAN's signing of STING and MADONNA with an eye always on the dollar.
Friend (and apparently also client) DAVID GEFFEN then presented GRUBMAN with his award, and GRUBMAN topped of the evening by thanking those in attendance, sharing a few stories and reminding everyone about how important it is to give to charities such as THE CITY OF HOPE.
