URBAN RADIO BROADCASTING Country WLAY, Rock WVNA and Top 40 WMSR/FLORENCE-MUSCLE SHOALS, AL recently wrapped its "Rise To The Challenge" promotion featuring jocks from all three stations. CYNDI SUMMERS from WLAY, JOEY YARBER from WVNA (THE BIG DOG), and FATGUY from WMSR spent the last five days living atop scissor lift cranes in the SAM'S CLUB parking lot in FLORENCE in a bid to see how could stay airborne the longest and raise the most cash for the CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK of hospitals in ALABAMA.
The winner? We’ll call it a tie. All three jocks decided to wrap it up at the same time after having raised $27,000 for the charity with money still arriving at press time. URBAN RADIO BROADCASTING Regional Dir./Programming BRIAN RICKMAN says, "We couldn’t be more proud of our talent. CYNDI, JOEY and FATGUY weathered blistering ALABAMA heat and even a few severe wind gusts, 30 feet in the air to accomplish this goal. The added bonus? It sounded great on the air."
