CLEAR CHANNEL Oldies KLOU/ST. LOUIS released a press release today hinting at changes when they wrote:
This decade has seen the rise of HD radio, the MP3 player, internet radio, HD radio and downloadable "albums." THURSDAY morning, JUNE 14, at 6a, CLEAR CHANNEL gives the radio airwaves back to ST. LOUISANS.
"Nothing like this has ever been done before here," said Pres./Market Manager DENNIS LAMME. "We’re excited to give 103.3 FM back to ST. LOUIS."
So what's up? Dir./Programming Operations TOMMY AUSTIN confided in ALL ACCESS, "We are keeping the Oldies format but changing the presentation and the way we determine what songs get played. Listeners will help choose the library, and in turn they tell us why those songs are special to them. It's very refreshingly unique and yet very simple. We are creating an emotional bond with the audience and the music."
