UNIVISION Regional Mexican KSCA/LOS ANGELES morning host EDDIE "PIOLIN" SOTELO yesterday hand-delivered to members of CONGRESS -- including Sens. EDWARD KENNEDY (D-MA), MEL MARTINEZ (R-FL), ROBERT MENENDEZ (D-NJ), KEN SALAZAR (D-CO), and ARLEN SPECTER (R-PA) -- over 1 million letters signed by U.S. citizens and/or legal residents in support of the passage of a fair immigration reform bill. Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Congressional Hispanic Conference were also present to receive the signed letters.
"I am humbled by the overwhelming support that this campaign has received, and I believe wholeheartedly in the urgent need for immigration reform in our great country," said PIOLIN. "Fair and just immigration reform is needed to address the current and future challenges our nation faces and will continue to face in the future. I sincerely thank everyone who has shown their support for this cause, both here in DC and across the U.S."
PIOLIN began his letter-writing campaign on his "PIOLIN Por La Manana" radio show and on Univision.com just six weeks ago. Six days ago, he began his cross-country caravan journey from LOS ANGELES, making stops in ALBUQUERQUE, DALLAS and CHICAGO to collect letters from U.S. citizens and legal residents.
