Bridge Ratings: Conclusions From 'Day Of Silence' Study
June 28, 2007 at 5:35 AM (PT)
On TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY of this week, BRIDGE RATINGS fielded a custom study to determine what impact, if any, Internet radio's "Day of Silence" would have. Some 21% of the sample 13+ interviewed for this study said they regularly listen to Internet radio in a typical week.
On TUESDAY, BRIDGE RATINGS asked this group if they listened to Internet radio that day, and 45% said yes. On WEDNESDAY, as Internet radio streams returned to normal, BRIDGE asked the same question, and 89% indicated that they had listened to Internet radio on WEDNESDAY.
BRIDGE concluded from this data that TUESDAY's "Day of Silence" did have a significant impact on listening, though 45% of the sample still found Internet radio stations to listen to even if their primary Internet radio stream of choice was not available.
