At 5:30a FRIDAY, JULY 13, QUAD CITIES, IA morning duo DWYER & MICHAELS will return to the airwaves. QCONLINE.COM reports now that their six-month non-compete clause with former employer CLEAR CHANNEL Classic Hits KCQQ (Q106.5) has ended, GREG DWYER and BILL MICHAELS will return to the air on CUMULUS Rock WXLP (97 ROCK).
DWYER said he's relieved the six-month wait ended SUNDAY. "I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of us."
"Obviously, we're extremely excited about it," CUMULUS VP/GM SCOTT LINDAHL said. "They are icons in the QUAD CITIES market."
Their contract's "non-compete" clause at KCQQ prohibited them for being on QUAD CITIES airwaves for six months. During that time, the pair has been heard on another CUMULUS station, KRNA/CEDAR RAPIDS.
Earlier this year, KCQQ sought a temporary injunction to stop the CEDAR RAPIDS show's broadcast, along with some advertising and promotions, but a SCOTT COUNTY district judge ruled against KCQQ.
