DEBUT BROADCASTING CORP. has closed on its purchase of Hot AC WIQQ (Q-102), Easy Listening WBAQ (EZ 98), and Oldies WNIX-A/GREENVILLE, MS from THE RIVER BROADCASTING COMPANY INC. for $1 million plus a payment for certain accounts receivable. DEBUT previously closed on Gospel WNLA-A and AC WNLA-F/INDIANOLA, MS, also in the GREENVILLE market, purchased from SHAMROCK BROADCASTING INC. for $300,000 cash.
DEBUT CEO STEVEN LUDWIG said, "We are very pleased to be moving ahead with our expansion plans in the DELTA. Tower upgrades and all-new, fully-digital studios will integrate operations with our studio complex in NASHVILLE; lowering operating costs, increasing the quality of the on-air products, and providing advertisers with better-sounding, more effective commercials."
LUDWIG added, "We are on track for expansion into a second market later this year, and early operational results suggest that we can absorb new markets at the pace previously announced for 2008."
