90 Year Old Sportscaster To Retire July 31

The oldest full-time working sportscaster is retiring, according to NORTHWEST BROADCASTERS, which reports that BERRY ENTERTAINMENT Adult Standards KLKI-A/ANACORTES, WA Sports Director BILL O'MARA is broadcasting his final sports report on JULY 31. O'MARA, 90, will be honored with a celebratory barbecue at the station following the broadcast.
O'MARA spent most of his career at SEATTLE-area stations, including KING-TV, KOL-A, and KFKF, and became well known for his broadcasting of the tragic 1951 Gold Cup hydroplane race in which a crash killed the driver and mechanic; he joined KLKI in 1985 at age 68.
