Report: WEEI Yanks Dennis And Callahan In Contract Dispute
August 13, 2007 at 5:29 AM (PT)
ENTERCOM's BOSTON cluster has another talent crisis on its hands, with Sports WEEI-A yanking morning team JOHN DENNIS and GERRY CALLAHAN off the air indefinitely in a lockout tied to contract problems with the pair.
JOHN DENNIS told the BOSTON HERALD, "For me to be locked out on the week that we do the JIMMY FUND Radiothon breaks my heart. It’s the most important thing we do all year long." The station's spokesman GEORGE REGAN told the paper that the pair were merely being given a vacation, adding "It’s a great time for a vacation, and it’s a great time to walk the beaches of CAPE COD to relax, reflect and think."
DENNIS and GERRY CALLAHAN's contracts expire in SEPTEMBER; the situation follows ENTERCOM's trading of lawsuits with WRKO-A/BOSTON afternoon host HOWIE CARR, who is seeking to jump to GREATER MEDIA rival WTKK.
