FCC To Take Bids For New Rockland County AM
August 31, 2007 at 5:46 AM (PT)
The FCC has set a special five-day "supplemental" AM auction filing window for a new AM station at 1700 AM in ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY. The new station is being dropped in because the Commission wants to establish a station that could broadcast in an emergency at the INDIAN POINT nuclear reactor.
Filings will be taken for the new facility between OCTOBER 1 and 5; the Media Bureau has also announced that it will dismiss any AM expanded band minor change construction permit applications filed during the same five-day window. The 1700 AM facility must cover a minimum of 50% of the residents of ROCKLAND COUNTY's portion of the INDIAN POINT Emergency Planning Zone with its 2.0 mV/m daytime countour.
