September 12, 2007 at 7:31 AM (PT)
FCC Chairman KEVIN MARTIN told reporters TUESDAY that the Commission plans to vote on the XM-SIRIUS merger in fourth quarter 2007, in an attempt to meet a goal of ruling on mergers within 180 days. With the proceeding starting on JUNE 8th, the 180-day goal would put a vote on the agenda on or before DECEMBER 6th.
The merger is also pending approval by the antitrust division of the DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, which has yet to schedule a decision on the matter, but is expected sometime in OCTOBER.
