Bridge Ratings: Sat Radio Will Take Hit From Net Radio
September 12, 2007 at 10:27 AM (PT)
BRIDGE RATINGS just completed a two-month study of users of traditional and Internet radio to determine how market penetration of wireless Internet could affect listening to traditional radio.
"We’re finding with many of our digital media studies that traditional radio cume audiences are not going to be drastically impacted by current digital alternatives," explained Pres./CEO DAVE VAN DYKE. "Consistently we see time-spent-listening taking the hit and as we projected first back in ’04, wireless Internet radio will change in-car listening significantly."
The new report reveals:
* Projected Internet radio in-car penetration
* Potential time-spent-listening impact for traditional and satellite radio
* Wi-Fi’s impact on traditional radio revenues
"Satellite radio will be negatively affected by in-car Internet radio more so than traditional radio," continues VAN DYKE. "We found that satellite radio subscribers’ passion was largely diminished when in-car Internet radio was added to the mix."
