FCC Proposes Two Fines For Late Renewal Apps
September 12, 2007 at 11:02 AM (PT)
The FCC has issued Notices of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture for $7,000 each to DETROIT LAKES BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC. (KRCQ/DETROIT LAKES, MN) and LEA COUNTY BROADCASTING COMPANY (KLEA-A-F/LOVINGTON, NM) for late license renewal applications and unauthorized operation after the licenses had technically expired. The license renewals of all of the stations were, however, granted.
The Commission also granted a new construction permit for an AM at ESCANABA, MI to STEVEN A. ROY, Personal Representative of the Estate of LYLE R. EVANS, over the objection of KMB BROADCASTING, which alleged that EVANS never obtained "reasonable assurance" that his designated transmitter site would be available if the CP was granted.
