UMG To Leave Music Row

UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP/NASHVILLE is packing its bags and planning a move that will take them from MUSIC ROW to downtown MUSIC CITY. The TENNESSEAN reports that the group is scheduled to move to the SUNTRUST PLAZA office towers, which overlook the historic RYMAN AUDITORIUM, in FEBRUARY, 2008. The 70 employees of the three labels -- MCA, MERCURY and LOST HIGHWAY -- currently occupy four floors of conjoined buildings at 54 and 64 Music Square East. The move will allow the entire group to work on the 26,000-square-foot 11th floor of the new building, which is scheduled to open on DECEMBER 1st.
UMG is not the first label to move from MUSIC ROW; in 1991 CAPITOL/NASHVILLE opened new digs on West End Ave. and LYRIC STREET relocated to Demonbreun Street just a few years ago. To read more on the scheduled move, the new office space and MUSIC ROW's reaction to the news, just click here.
