CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WHTZ (Z100)/NEW YORK is kicking off a six-week "Get Active Public Service Campaign" with MUSICIANS ON CALL & "RENT" on BROADWAY. TRI-STATE area teens are encouraged to get their schools to donate as many full-length new or gently used CDs towards MUSICIANS ON CALL’s CD Pharmacies Program. The middle or high school that donates the largest number of CDs wins a free, private performance at their school by the cast of "RENT" on BROADWAY.
All collected CDs will go to MUSICIANS ON CALL, a nonprofit organization founded in 1999 with the mission of bringing live and recorded music to the bedsides of people in healthcare facilities. The organization provides hospitals with complete CD libraries and players for patient use at no cost. Currently the organization has 136 CD pharmacies: 89 throughout NEW YORK, 22 in NEW JERSEY, nine in PENNSYLVANIA, six in LOUISIANA, three in TENNESSEE and one each in MASSACHUSETTS, OHIO, MARYLAND, INDIANA, CALIFORNIA and TEXAS.
