Judging by the ratings, CHRISTMAS can't come too soon for CLEAR CHANNEL AC WLIT/CHICAGO writes ROBERT FEDER in TODAY's CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. It's not even OCTOBER yet, and the station already is literally counting the days until it switches to all-CHRISTMAS music.
Log on to the station's website at www.wlit.com and the first thing you see is "Countdown to the Holiday Lite" -- a digital readout tracking the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the CHRISTMAS format kicks in.
Although the countdown clock would indicate a mid-NOVEMBER launch, LITE FM is more likely to jump the gun around HALLOWEEN. Last year, it made the move at the first sighting of a snowflake on NOVEMBER 2nd, and holiday tunes lasted a record eight weeks.
"As always, we start when the time feels right," said VP/Programming DARREN DAVIS. "NOVEMBER 15th was a date that I chose that is probably close to the magic day."
