Former WCFL radio legend JIMMY P. STAGG is suffering from terminal cancer, and it looks like the cancer has won. It is doubtful that he will still be with us by THANKSGIVING. A fund has been set up to help aid STAGG's family. The address is:

CHICAGOLANDRADIOANDMEDIA.COM writes, "JIMMY is a rock & roll radio pioneer. Back in the 1960s, DJs weren't just kids playing records of rock stars, they were at least as bigger-than-life than the rock stars themselves. One of the biggest DJs of this period was CHICAGO's JIMMY P. STAGG (real name: JIM STAGGS). JIMMY held down the high-profile after-school shift (now referred to as the drive-time shift) from the mid to late '60s on (arguably) the top radio station in town for popular music.
"It wasn't only CHICAGO that thought highly of JIMMY P. STAGG -- a certain FAB FOUR from LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND loved him, too! THE BEATLES had hand-selected JIMMY to travel with them during all three of their American tours. JIM was able to conduct exclusive & extensive one-on-one interviews with THE BEATLES before and after each of their concerts, as well as being able to report intimate details of the tour that no other person in the world would be able to do! In his book about THE BEATLES, 'Ticket To Ride,' author LARRY KANE mentioned JIM STAGG repeatedly and fondly."
