Saying "I made my bed, I'm gonna lie in it," CBS Sports KHTK-A (SPORTS 1140)/SACRAMENTO morning "RISE GUYS" co-host F.P. SANTANGELO apologized FRIDAY morning to listeners and his family for his use of performance-enhancing substances that landed him on the list of baseball players implicated in the MITCHELL Report.
SANTANGELO told co-hosts WHITEY GLEASON and MARK "PHANTOM" LOWE that he used human growth hormone after a career-threatening knee operation while a member of the MONTREAL EXPOS in 1998 and again while attempting to recover from a thumb injury while with the LOS ANGELES DODGERS. He said that the MITCHELL Report allegations that he bought deca/testosterone were incorrect but that he had obtained and used HGH and "felt dirty" after doing so. Callers to the show expressed disappointment with SANTANGELO, who had defended BARRY BONDS on the air but who had not disclosed that he had been involved with supplements himself.
