January 4, 2008 at 5:34 AM (PT)
The deal for ENTERCOM to buy a 50% interest in NASSAU BROADCASTING's Classical WCRB/BOSTON has, according to NASSAU CEO LOU MERCANTANTI, "hit an impasse," reports the BOSTON GLOBE's CLEA SIMON. The deal also included putting ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-A/BOSTON programming on several NASSAU NEW ENGLAND stations, which is also apparently not happening.
MERCANTANTI told the paper that the deal did not portend a format change and, regarding another deal with an investment partner for the station, that "If the right opportunity came up that made sense, we'd look at it. But we're content with the status quo."
