Report: Sony ATV Asks For Streaming And Download Ban

The HARRY FOX AGENCY has been told, reportedly by SONY ATV PUBLISHING, to halt all future licensing of its product for streaming or limited downloads, reports P2PNET. Online corporate music businesses such as REALNETWORK’S RHAPSODY, NAPSTER and MEDIANET will probably be hit, says the story. It also raises the question of whether a service that offers a stream or a limited download of any of the publisher’s songs released on records after TODAY would be intentionally infringing the publisher’s copyrights.
The move follows a motion filed yesterday by the DIGITAL MEDIA ASSOCIATION with the COPYRIGHT ROYALTY BOARD.
