FCC Rejects Challenge To Arizona Station Sale

The FCC denies DOUGLAS PELLEY's petition to deny the sale by LINDA CORSO of Country KRDE (THE RIDE 94)/GLOBE, AZ to SUNBURST MEDIA for $6.45 million.
PELLEY claimed standing because he alleged he is owed money for work performed at the station under a verbal agreement, and alleged that the station should have been transferred to CORSO's ex-husband RICH POTYKA under the direction of the ARIZONA court in the couple's 1997 divorce. The Commission ruled that PELLEY did not have formal standing, that his claim for money owed is a private contractual claim outside the jurisdiction of the FCC, and that CORSO and POTYKA's oral amendment of the divorce decree is a matter for the state court and not the FCC.
