NEWSWEB Talk WCPT-A/CHICAGO adds longtime former NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV (NBC 5) political correspondent DICK KAY for a weekly talk show, "DICK KAY -- BACK ON THE BEAT," 2-4p SATURDAYS beginning MARCH 8th. KAY, who worked for WMAQ-TV for over 38 years until his retirement in 2007, co-hosted WCPT's post-primary wrapup shows with JERRY SPRINGER this month.
KAY said, "It's good to be back on the beat. This is a bad year to be sitting on the sidelines. I have always enjoyed being involved in the political discourse and I can't thank WCPT enough for making room for my voice in this exciting election year. Radio is a wonderful medium which lets you expand ideas and opinions far beyond the 1-minute-30-second limits imposed in TV newscasts. This will be a liberating experience. I hope the listeners will make my show and this station a listening habit. Whether you agree or disagree, let's talk about it."
VP HARVEY WELLS added, "Very few people in the history of Chicago journalism have the knowledge and experience of DICK KAY. I am extremely happy that he has decided to return to his radio roots and share that knowledge with WCPT listeners. Beyond that, with a two-hour weekly show, CHICAGO is going to hear a completely different side of DICK KAY in addition to the political side that they already know."
