Dorgan Plans To Block FCC Cross-Ownership Changes

Sen. BYRON DORGAN (D-ND) says he'll propose a bill to block the FCC's loosening of newspaper-broadcast cross-ownership by APRIL.
DORGAN, on a conference call with members of FREE PRESS, the PARENTS TELEVISION COUNCIL, the NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR WOMEN, the NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS, the PROMETHEUS RADIO PROJECT, the NATIONAL HISPANIC MEDIA COALITION and the LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE ON CIVIL RIGHTS, said that the bill is a response to the FCC "shaking the pom-poms for more media concentration."
The special resolution, which he said is being supported by the leadership of the SENATE COMMERCE COMMITTEE from both parties, would have 60 session days to be passed.
