TRIBUNE CO. has upped VP/Treasurer CHANDLER BIGELOW to CFO, replacing the retiring DON GRENESKO. BIGELOW joined TRIBUNE in 1998 and has been VP since 2003. GRENESKO was with TRIBUNE for 28 years, 17 as CFO, and served as President/CEO of the CHICAGO CUBS in 1988-91.
TRIBUNE is also changing network affiliations for its SAN DIEGO television station, flipping KSWB-TV (CW5) from the CW to FOX starting with the FALL season this year. FOX has been affiliated with crosstown ENTRAVISION/BAY CITY TV station XETV (TV) (FOX 6) since the network's inception, but the network voiced concerns about being affiliated with a station licensed to MEXICO and the affiliation change puts FOX on a signal with a tower closer to much of the SAN DIEGO market. FOX had been rumored to be talking to crosstown independent KUSI-TV about an affiliation switch before making the deal with KSWB. The company is reportedly shopping LONG ISLAND daily NEWSDAY as well, with FOX owner RUPERT MURDOCH among the suitors.
The company owns one radio property, Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO.
