The FCC's approval of the sale of Adult Standards WTHU-A/THURMONT, MD by CHARLES R. WALMER to CHRISTIAN RADIO COALITION for $150,000 means that a new format is coming, and the FREDERICK NEWS-POST reports that the new owners will close on the station and change the format to Religion on JUNE 9th.
The buyer has added two former WTHU staffers to its board of directors, attorney and former air talent PETER FITZPATRICK and FREDERICK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS Dir. for Curriculum and Evaluation STEVE HESS. CRC principal MICHAEL BETTERIDGE told the paper, "These two men return once more, decades later, with fond recollections for the small station in their distant past. They bring their professionalism, enthusiasm and their commitment to excellence as a way to serve the community through radio. They want to help make WTHU a community radio station."
