Liddy Plans Alaska Trip

RADIO AMERICA syndicated talker G. GORDON LIDDY is heading up to ALASKA in JULY for a week of live broadcasts, and the ANCHORAGE DAILY NEWS reports that the trip is being sponsored by the lobbying group that's promoting oil drilling in the ALASKAN NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE. ARCTIC POWER spokesman ADRIAN HERRERA told the paper that LIDDY's "sort of demographic is very good. Those are voters. Those are people who will call their congressman and say, 'Hey look, I heard on GORDON LIDDY the real truth about ALASKA. And I think this is important and I think you should support Alaskan issues.'"
State Sen. KIM ELTON (D-JUNEAU) called the move a "sick joke" and adding "I think it's terrible. If ALASKA wants to put the best face on things it's probably best to not hire felons." LIDDY served 4 1/2 years in prison for his role in the WATERGATE break-in.
