AMERICAN IDOL winner JORDIN SPARKS canceled three concerts over the weekend including an appearance last week on the "Live with REGIS and KELLY show."
The BRYCE JORDAN CENTER in UNIVERSITY PARK, PA, issued a statement after SPARKS canceled her SUNDAY performance there stating that SPARKS' doctor has said she can not perform due to an acute vocal cord hemorrhage, which presents the risk of permanent vocal cord damage.
A statement from SPARKS' representation went as follows: "JORDIN SPARKS is on vocal rest and is expected to make a full and complete recovery. She looks forward to joining ALICIA KEYS on tour in MAY. SPARKS has been going non-stop over the past two years and now she's going through the normal course of learning how to manage and care for her voice.
JORDIN appreciates the outpouring of concern and well-wishes from her fans as she recuperates at home."
SPARKS won the sixth season of "AMERICAN IDOL" at the age of 17, making her the youngest winner in the show's history.
