Suburban Chicago AM Goes Dark
May 7, 2008 at 6:56 AM (PT)
KOVAS COMMUNICATIONS Talk WMCW-A/HARVARD, IL (west suburban CHICAGO) has gone silent, switching off on SATURDAY.
WMCW's move (the station, presently on 1600 AM, has an application to move to 1180 AM in WESTON, WI, near WAUSAU) is part of KOVAS' long-running attempt to improve the coverage of its Ethnic WONX-A/EVANSTON at 1590 AM, which has an application on file to increase from 3,500 to 7,000 watts days. WMCW had been simulcasting HEALTH RADIO NETWORK programming with sister WKKD-A/AURORA, which has a CP to move to SILVIS, IL (in the QUAD CITIES market across the state) with 1,400-watts days/1,000-watts nights.
