As of FRIDAY night (5/9), CBS Rhythmic AC KVMX (MOVIN 107.5)/PORTLAND changed formats, acquiring the intellectual property of crosstown ROSE CITY Top 40/Rhythmic KXJM (JAMMIN 95.5), including the calls KXJM and morning show PK's PLAYHOUSE. All of the cast, syndication and TV productions for PK's PLAYHOUSE will stay the same. MOVIN 107.5 PD LISA ADAMS will stay on as PD of KXJM (JAMMIN’ 107.5, HITS & HIP-HOP).
Both stations are currently simulcasting the programming of KXJM until when the actual flip to Sports 95.5 THE GAME at 9a will happen MONDAY (5/12), and PK will continue with the last hour of his debut show at JAMMIN' 107.5. ROSE CITY had previously announced that JAMMIN's original 95.5 home would flip to Sports on MAY 1st (NET NEWS 5/1). Call letters of both stations will change pending FCC approval.
"This is a rare opportunity for CBS RADIO/PORTLAND to acquire the well-established, successful JAMMIN’ brand, as well as a morning show that is consistently top-rated in the PORTLAND market," commented CBS RADIO/PORTLAND SVP DAVE MCDONALD. "We have the luxury of informing current KXJM listeners of the switch via KXJM and KVMX airwaves for the next several days, which is really unprecedented in the world of radio."
ROSE CITY RADIO President TIM McNAMARA said, "We're obviously very pleased that JAMMIM' and the PLAYHOUSE will continue on in PORTLAND. While we're excited about our new direction, we're thrilled JAMMIN’ will continue serving the community and stay a top-rated station at in the market."
Added morning host PK, "We will be simulcasting MONDAY's show till 9a, then be only on 107.5 till 10a. The plan is to stay in our current studio's till they can figure out where to put us. We get to keep all of our syndication and TV production which is what I am stoked about."
KXJM (THE NEW JAMMIN' 107.5)/PORTLAND PD LISA ADAMS is accepting applications for positions at the newly "relocated" station. ADAMS' e-mail has been blowin' up with interested talent. To keep her e-mail from crashing in a heap of digital mayhem, she's set up an e-mail address specifically for applications.
Potential talent should send aircheck/resume/cover letter and a one-page programming/music philosophy of no more than 3 mb in size to firstname.lastname@example.org.
