Jim Shea, Andy Griffith Demand A Return Of The Whistle

Only in AMERICA ... NEXTMEDIA R&B Oldies WWYW/CHICAGO-DUNDEE, IL JIM SHEA was vegging in front of the boob tube one night, watching "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" in the TV LAND cable network, when he noticed that someone had removed the classic whistling in the show's closing sequence. "There was just a promo for one of their reality shows while at the bottom two inches of the screen you saw the credits shrunk down smaller than the fine print on a payday loan" he told ALL ACCESS. "They were going by so fast that you could only absorb them on a subliminal level, like in "A CLOCKWORK ORANGE."
Perturbed, SHEA went on-air the next day and complained about what he saw, then put up on online petition to send to VIACOM (TV LAND’s parent company). "I tried to contact every notable surviving cast member," he said. "Then one day I came home and found a message on my answering machine ... from ANDY GRIFFITH himself! I had him on the air this morning and he was great. He said if you do away with the credits, it’s as if all the great people who created this great American classic never even existed."
You can hear the entire conversation on the station's website. In the meantime, sign the petition ... and y'all come back now, ya hear?
