Want Sports Radio Back In Redding? Give A Buck

MIKE QUINN wants to know how badly the residents of REDDING, CA want sports radio back on the air, and the owner of Adult Standards simulcast KLXR-A and KCNR-A/REDDING is using an unusual way to find out: he's asking for dollar donations from listeners to gauge support. The REDDING RECORD SEARCHLIGHT reports that QUINN is soliciting the donations, which he will in turn donate to the GOOD NEWS RESCUE MISSION, as a "straw poll for me and for advertisers. Really, it’s a buck, a quarter of a good beer. And the RESCUE MISSION could really use the money, too."
MAPLETON COMMUNICATIONS dropped Sports from its KNRO-A/REDDING in favor of a simulcast of AAA KPIG/FREEDOM, CA in APRIL, leaving the ESPN affiliation available, and QUINN says he's in negotiations to pick the ESPN programming up, with the complication that the network insisted on QUINN taking the full network schedule and QUINN wants to carry PREMIERE's JIM ROME.
