Memphis: CLEAR CHANNEL, CITADEL Share Leadership
CLEAR CHANNEL and CITADEL remain the dominant clusters in the MEMPHIS market again this book. CLEAR CHANNEL Urban-formatted stations did land the top position in each key demo.
25-54: CLEAR CHANNEL Urban AC KJMS held the top spot among adults 25-54 this book -- and was the sole station with double-digit shares. CITADEL format rival WRBO climbed from 3rd to 2nd, giving the Urban AC format the market's top-two slots. CLEAR CHANNEL Gospel WHAL slid from 2nd to 3rd. CITADEL Country WGKX rose from 6th to 4th, while CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WHRK remained in 5th. ENTERCOM AC WRVR moved out of the top 5 and slid from 4th to 6th. An up book for CITADEL Rock WXMX, which moved from 9th to 7th. CLEAR CHANNEL Urban Oldies WDIA slid from 7th to 8th, while sister Classic Rock WEGR rose from 10th to 9th. ENTERCOM Hot AC WMC-FM moved back inside the top 10 at #10. FLINN Urban KXHT ranks 11th, tied with Regional Mexican sister WGSF. An off book for FLINN Top 40 WHBQ, which slid to #13, tying GILLIAM Gospel WLOK, and CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WREC. Struggles continued for CITADEL AC WKIM, which dropped from 13th to 16th. ENTERCOM continued to have challenges in the marketplace outside of WRVR and WMC-FM as Alternative WMFS ranked 17th, Classic Country WMC-A was 18th, tied with Rhythmic AC WSNA. SIMMONS Sports KQPA is 20th.
18-49: CLEAR CHANNEL sisters KJMS and WHRK hold the top two spots. WRBO and WGKX grabbed 3rd and 4th place respectively. WHAL slid from 3rd to 5th. WRVR held steady in 6th. KXHT and WXMX tied for 7th. WGSF soared into 9th place. WEGR rounded out the top 10.
WMC-F ranks 11th (up from 12th) but posted its lowest share in six books. WDIA and WHBQ-FM tied for 12th. WMFS leapt from 16th to 14th. WREC dipped from 9th all the way down to 15th. WKIM, WLOK, WSNA, WMC-A, and KQPN rounded out the top 20.
18-34: Another victory for WHRK here, with KJMS holding in 2nd. KXHT inched up to #3. WGSF didn't show up in the FALL, but ranked 4th in the WINTER. WGKX slid from 2nd to 5th. WRBO moved from 7th to 6th. WHAL, WXMX, WMC-F and WRVR rounded out the top 10.
Nashville: WJXA Takes 25-54 Crown But CLEAR CHANNEL Cluster Shines
SOUTH CENTRAL AC WJXA retained its #1 position among adults 25-54 this book, but CLEAR CHANNEL continued to score huge results for its cluster. CROMWELL also saw growth for their two facilties, while the Country race went to WSIX. Here's what happened this winter in MUSIC CITY:
25-54: WJXA held the top spot again. CUMULUS Urban AC WQQK held in 2nd place, but then the next four spots belonged to CLEAR CHANNEL. A stellar book for Classic Rock WNRQ, which rose from 9th to 3rd. Country WSIX moved from 8th to 4th and took control of the market's Country battle. Top 40 WRVW and Urban WUBT tied for 5th. SOUTH CENTRAL Adult Hits WCJK dipped from 4th to 7th. CITADEL Country WKDF slid from 6th to 8th. CUMULUS Talk WWTN and Country sister WSM-F rounded out the top 10.
CROMWELL Active Rock WBUZ leapt from 13th to 11th -- but posted a 54% increase in share. CITADEL Sports WGFX had an off book, dropping from 5th to 12th. CUMULUS Classic Hits WRQQ (which has since flipped to Rock) moved from 15th to 13th. SALEM Christian AC WFFH was 14th, with a tie for 15th between CLEAR CHANNEL News/Talk WLAC, TUNED IN AAA WRLT, and CROMWELL Hot AC WVNS (who rose 50% in share this book).
18-49: CLEAR CHANNEL lands the top two spots 18-49 with WUBT and WRVW respectively. WJXA dips from 2nd to 3rd. WNRQ vaults from 9th to 4th. WQQK takes the 5th place ranking. Among adults 18-49, Country leadership was split -- with WKDF and WSIX tying for 6th. WBUZ climbed from 11th to 8th. WCJK slipped from 5th to 9th, with WWTN rounding out the top 10.
WSM-F dropped out of the top 10 and moved to #11. WGFX fell from 8th to 12th. WVNS moved from 16th to 13th. WFFH and WRQQ rounded out the top 15.
18-34: WUBT and WRVW remained a solid 1-2 punch. WBUZ climbed from 5th to 3rd, leaping over WKDF, which held in 4th place (and was the young end Country winner). WJXA was 5th. WNRQ leapt from 10th to 6th. WSIX slipped from 6th to 7th, WQQK now ranks 8th, with WSM-F 9th and WWTN 10th.
Norfolk: Entercom Stations Sweep Key Demos; WUSH Debuts
ENTERCOM grabbed the top spot across all three demos with Urban AC WVKL and Rhythmic WNVZ sharing leadership, while sister Hot AC WPTE posted some nice gains.
25-54: WVKL held the #1 spot although lost some shares this book. CLEAR CHANNEL Urban AC rival WKUS moved from 3rd to 2nd. With a new competitor in town, MAX MEDIA Country WGH-FM slipped to 3rd place and was off 29% year-to-year. A stellar book for WPTE, which vaulted from 12th to 4th. MAX MEDIA Gospel WXEZ climbed from 10th to 5th and was up for a fourth straight book. SAGA Classic Rock WAFX is tied for 6th with WNVZ -- which rose from 13th. SINCLAIR TELECABLE Adult Hits WPYA (Bob-FM) slid from 4th to 8th. SAGA Active Rock WNOR moved from 8th to 9th. CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WOWI had an off book -- dipping from 4th to 10th, tying ENTERCOM AC WWDE.
SINCLAIR TELECABLE News WNIS moved from 11th to 12th. MAX MEDIA Rock WXMM inched up from 15th to 13th, while sister AC WVBW dropped from 6th to 14th. SINCLAIR TELECABLE Country WUSH rose from 17th to 15th, but scored a 180% increase over the FALL.
18-49: ENTERCOM took the top-two positions here as well with WVKL and WNVZ 1-2. WOWI dropped from 2nd to 3rd, with WKUS moved up from 5th to 4th. WGH-F slid from 3rd to 5th. WPTE climbed from 9th to 6th. WNOR slid back from 6th to 7th. WXEZ was this books only new entry into the top 10, rising from 12th to 8th. WWDE slid from 8th to 9th. WPYA dropped from 4th to 10th.
WAFX and WXMM tied for 11th. WUSH rose from 16th to 13th, with WNIS slid from 13th to 14th. WROX dropped from 14th to 15th.
18-34: A tie atop the market 18-34 with WNVZ and WOWI in a dead heat. WPTE climbed from 7th to 3rd, tying with WVKL. WNOR is 5th, WGH-FM 6th. WUSH rose from 14th to 7th -- within a half share of 'GH in the younger demo. WXMM moved from 12th to 8th. WWDE and SINCLAIR TELECABLE Alternative WROX tied for 9th.
Oklahoma City: RENDA Takes 25-54; CITADEL, CLEAR CHANNEL Strong 18-49, 18-34
There was split leadership among the demos in OKLAHOMA CITY. RENDA scored a victory in the 25-54 cell, while CLEAR CHANNEL and CITADEL were atop the leaderboard 18-34 and 18-49.
25-54: RENDA landed the top-two positions. AC KMGL moved from 3rd to 1st, while Classic Hits sister KOMA rose from 6th to 2nd. CLEAR CHANNEL Country dipped from 1st to 3rd, ahead of CITADEL Active Rock KATT, which held in 4th place. RENDA Classic Rock KRXO dropped from 2nd to 5th. CITADEL Hot AC KYIS slid from 5th to 6th, ahead of sister Sports WWLS, which held in 7th place. CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KJYO (KJ103) remained in 8th, ahead of Country sister KXXY (which moved from 11th to 9th). CHISOLM TRAIL Adult Hits KQOB (BOB-FM) moved from 12th to 10th.
A great first book for CLEAR CHANNEL's KHBZ -- which shifted from Alternative to Active Rock. KHBZ moved from 19th to 11th and was up 181% from the Fall. TYLER Country KKNG was now in 12th place (up from 14th). CLEAR CHANNEL News/Talk KTOK slipped from 10th to 13th. CITADEL Rhythmic KKWD finished 14th, with TYLER Regional Mexican KTUZ rounded out the top 15.
18-49: KTST and KATT remained the top two stations in the cell. KMGL climbed from 5th to 3rd, leaping over KJYO, which held in 4th -- where they tied with KYIS (which leapt from 6th). KRXO slid from 3rd to 6th, just ahead of KOMA, which climbed from 12th to 7th. A solid 18-49 book for KHBZ -- which leapt from 15th to 8th. KKWD slipped from 7th to 9th, and WWLS dipped from 9th to 10th.
PERRY Urban KVSP slipped from 8th to 11th, ahead of KXXY which dipped from 11th to 12th. KTOK climbed from 16th to 13th. KQOB was in 14th place, with KTUZ dropped from 10th to 15th.
18-34: KATT remained #1, with KTST rising from 3rd to 2nd. KJ103 slipped from 2nd to 3rd, with KKWD in 4th place. KHBZ vaulted from 10th to 5th, tying KYIS. KVSP slid from 4th to 7th. KMGL, KRXO and KTUZ rounded out the top 10.
